Our Egypt desert safari tours include a private licensed guide, 4WD transport from Cairo or from your hotel, accommodation in a desert camp or oasis hotel as specified, entrance fees to the listed sites and meals as described in the itinerary. We send a clear line-by-line breakdown before you book, so you know exactly what is and is not included. International flights to Egypt are not included.

The main Western Desert destinations we operate to are the White Desert north of Farafra, Bahariya Oasis, Siwa Oasis and Farafra. The most common route is Bahariya and the White Desert with two nights from Cairo. Siwa needs at least two nights and is usually done as a three-night trip, and for the widest picture the full Western Desert tour links the oases in one journey. Destinations can be combined to fit your dates.

Our desert safari tours start from $500 per person for the 3-day Bahariya Oasis and White Desert tour. A 3-day Siwa Oasis trip starts from $650, longer Siwa packages of four or five days from $800 and $999, and the 8-day comprehensive Western Desert tour from $2,850. The price depends on the number of travellers and the camp or hotel level, and your quote lists everything that is included.

Three days with two nights is enough for Bahariya and the White Desert, including a night under the stars in camp. Siwa, further west, works best over three to five days so the long drive is worth it. If the desert is the main reason for your trip, the 8-day Western Desert tour covers the oases at an unhurried pace. Any safari can also be added to a Cairo or Nile cruise itinerary.

For most travellers, yes: it is consistently one of the highest-rated experiences of any Egypt trip. Its chalk rock formations are unlike anything else in Egypt or the wider region. The quality of the experience depends on two things, whether the camp is actually inside the national park rather than on its edge, and the quality of the guide; both are non-negotiable on our departures.

October to April is the most comfortable period. Daytime temperatures in the Western Desert are around 15 °C to 28 °C, cool enough to walk comfortably, and nights are cold, which is part of what makes desert camping special. From June to August daytime heat regularly exceeds 40 °C and nights stay hot; summer trips are possible and cheaper, but they limit time outdoors between 10 am and 4 pm.

Our desert safaris use licensed guides and 4WD vehicles equipped for desert travel, and our guides carry communication equipment and are experienced in navigating and camping in the Western Desert. We do not take guests to restricted areas or regions under official travel advisories, and before every departure our Cairo team gives a full briefing on what to expect and what to bring.

Yes. Desert camping is one of the most memorable experiences for children who are old enough for the physical side of it, typically from age 6. The landscape, the camp, the stars and the early-morning light make a big impression. Our guides adjust the pace and content for families, and the two-night Bahariya and White Desert route is the most accessible family option.

Private. Like all our tours, your desert safari is just your party, with your own guide, 4WD vehicle and driver, running at your pace. That means you choose how long to stay at each rock formation or spring, when to stop for photographs and, within the itinerary, when to set off in the morning. Departures follow your dates rather than a fixed group calendar.

For an October to April departure, layers are essential, because desert nights are cold even when days are warm. Bring a fleece or light down jacket, breathable trousers, a sun hat, high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses and comfortable closed shoes or hiking boots; a head torch is useful in camp, and sandals are best avoided on the dunes.
