Egypt Nile Cruises

Luxury Nile Cruises — Private Cabins, Expert Guides & All-In Pricing

A Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan remains one of the most complete experiences in all of Egypt. In four to five days on the water, you pass through Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Philae — temples and tombs that took centuries to build, seen from a cabin on the river that connected them.

EgyVacations operates luxury Nile cruises with private Egyptologist guides on board every sailing. Not a group tour guide shared between 80 passengers — your guide, for your group, at every site. Cabins on our 5-star ships are selected for space, light, and Nile-facing views. Dahabiya sailings are available for travelers seeking a slower, private vessel with fewer than 24 guests.

All prices are all-in: the cabin, the guide, transfers, entrance fees, and meals as specified. No surprise charges when you board.

Frequently Asked Questions About Luxury Nile Cruises

How long is a luxury Nile cruise?

The standard luxury Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan runs 4 to 5 nights on the water. Dahabiya sailings cover the same route over 6 to 8 nights at a slower pace. Most EgyVacations packages combine the Nile cruise with time in Cairo before or after — a common structure is 3 nights in Cairo followed by a 5-night cruise, for a total of 8 nights in Egypt.

In Egypt’s cruise market, “luxury” typically refers to 5-star-rated ships with larger cabins, better-appointed restaurants, and more attentive service than standard 3- or 4-star vessels. However, the rating system is not standardized, so the most meaningful differences to look for are: cabin size and deck position; the quality and availability of your guide; the number of passengers on board; and whether entrance fees and transfers are genuinely included or priced separately. EgyVacations luxury cruises include a private licensed Egyptologist guide — not a shared group guide — which is the single factor that most affects the quality of the experience at sites.

Luxury 5-star Nile cruises through EgyVacations typically range from $1,200 to $2,800 per person, depending on cabin category, time of year, and whether the cruise is part of a wider Egypt itinerary. Dahabiya private sailings start at approximately $2,000 per person for the vessel and guide, reflecting the smaller group size and more personalized service. All EgyVacations pricing is all-in: guide, cabin, entrance fees, and meals as specified are included. International flights are booked separately.

The standard Luxor-to-Aswan cruise includes Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, Hatshepsut’s Temple at Deir el-Bahari, the Temple of Horus at Edfu, Kom Ombo Temple, and Philae Temple near Aswan. Abu Simbel is not on the cruise route itself — it is typically arranged as a half-day or full-day trip from Aswan by air or road, and can be added to any EgyVacations package.

On every EgyVacations cruise, yes. Your private, licensed Egyptologist guide is included in the package price and accompanies your group at every site, from Luxor to Aswan. This is not standard across all operators — many cruise packages offer a ship-based “group guide” who delivers the same talk to all passengers simultaneously. If you are comparing options, explicitly confirm whether the guide is private to your group or shared among all passengers on board.

October through April is the most comfortable sailing season. November through February is the peak season, with the best weather and the highest prices. March and April are shoulder months with good conditions and slightly less demand. May and September are warm but manageable. June through August is the low season — significantly cheaper, but temperatures in Upper Egypt regularly exceed 40°C during the day, which affects comfort at open-air sites.

Lightweight and breathable clothing works best for most of the year. Modest dress is required at most temples and mosques, with shoulders and knees covered. Comfortable walking shoes matter more than most people expect; temple floors are uneven, and some sites require significant walking. Bring a good sun hat, high-SPF sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, and a power adapter for Type C sockets. Your guide will brief you on specifics before each day. Evening dress on 5-star ships is typically smart casual — no formal requirement.
