What a great team!

They helped me plan my day and arranged for an Egyptologist and driver to take me to all these places.

Travellers inside one of Egypt’s ancient temples

When to go

The comfortable half of the year runs October to April: 20–28 °C in Luxor and Aswan, which is what open-deck sailing and three hours inside a temple actually require.

Daytime20–28 °C
CrowdsPeak Nov–Feb
PricesHighest Dec–Jan
  • March and April keep the weather and lose the crowds — the best value window.
  • June to August is much cheaper, but afternoons pass 42 °C and excursions run at dawn.
  • Christmas and New Year need a 50% deposit, because the cruisers ask us for one too.

Our tip

Book three to four months out for November to February. For a dahabiya, make it four — they carry twelve people and the good cabins go first.

How to choose an Egypt tour from Canada

Begin with the number of days you can take. The 22 packages on this page last 5 to 15 days and start at $1,060 per person, in US dollars. The longer the trip, the more places it can add, such as Alexandria, Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh.

Then decide how much you want to see. Most packages link Cairo, Luxor and Aswan. If you have less time, the short breaks stay mainly in Cairo. If you want a bigger choice, open all Egypt vacation packages, or look at the classic tour packages. Each package page shows the day-by-day plan and what is included.

When you write to us, give your dates and the size of your party. We reply with an itinerary and a price. The quote is free, and there is no deposit to enquire. A real person answers on WhatsApp 24/7 during the trip. If you prefer to design the trip yourself, ask us to build one.

All general travel FAQs

No. Our Egypt tours from Canada start and end in Egypt, so you can fly from Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary or any other city with the airline and routing that suit you, and we can help you book the flights if you wish. We meet you on arrival in Egypt, and domestic flights inside Egypt are included wherever the itinerary says so.

It is a long-haul journey, and from many Canadian cities it includes one connection in Europe or the Gulf, so plan on most of a day door to door. Egypt is roughly 6 to 10 hours ahead of Canada, depending on your province. Because of the distance and the jet lag, we recommend at least 8 days on the ground for a first Egypt trip.

Yes. Canadian citizens need a visa before travelling to Egypt and must apply through an Egyptian embassy or consulate; the visa on arrival and the e-Visa are not available to Canadian passports. Apply well ahead of your trip, because processing takes time, and make sure your passport has plenty of validity left beyond your travel dates. We plan your itinerary around your dates either way, so you can apply once your trip is settled.

Our Egypt tours from Canada start from $745 per person for a 5-day Cairo trip. Budget Cairo and Nile cruise packages of 7 to 8 days start from $1,020, classic 8- to 10-day private trips usually run from $1,300 to $2,250, and luxury dahabiya journeys go higher. All prices are per person in US dollars, not Canadian dollars, and international flights are extra.

Plan 8 to 10 days for Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and a Nile cruise, which is the classic first trip and leaves time to recover from the long flight. With 12 to 15 days you can add Abu Simbel, Alexandria or a Red Sea stay in Hurghada or Sharm El-Sheikh. Every itinerary on this page can be shortened or lengthened to match your vacation days.

Mid-October to April is the most comfortable season, which is handy for Canadians escaping winter. The Christmas holidays and March break both fall in this window and are the busiest weeks, with Christmas and New Year filling first, so book 2 to 3 months ahead or earlier for those dates. July and August are very hot, especially in Luxor and Aswan, but quieter and cheaper.

Prices are quoted in US dollars, and you pay only once the itinerary is the one you want; booking is by enquiry, with no online checkout. A deposit as low as 30% confirms the trip (50% over Christmas, New Year and Easter), and the balance is due two days before arrival or in cash on arrival. You can pay by bank transfer, a secure payment link, PayPal or cash on arrival.

Most are private: your party, your licensed Egyptologist guide, your vehicle and your pace. This page also lists a few small group tours, which say so clearly on their own page, for travellers who prefer company and a lower price. Either way, the itinerary can be adjusted in length, hotels and pace before you book.

Yes. This page includes wheelchair-accessible tours of 8 and 10 days, and on any private trip we set the pace, rooms and transport for older travellers and guests with limited mobility. Children sharing a room with two paying adults travel free under 2, pay 25% from 2 to 5 and 50% from 6 to 11; from 12 they pay the adult rate. Some cruises and hotels have their own child policies.
